Upgrade Word Processor in XP Home?

The Word Processer program in XP Home is poor compared to
Microsoft Word and when sent as file to a user with XP
Professional the file can't even be opened!

How can I simply and cheaply upgrade to Word without a
lot of other installation problems?

The WordPad and Notepad are not word processors. They are text processors.

You do not "upgrade" to Word but you buy Word.

There are also very good and free, wordprocessors if you wanna look. The one
i use is called Jarte, and while it is adequate for me, it might not suit
you but you can check it out..

If you're talking about Wordpad, it's a very primitive product,
really more of a glorified text editor than a real word
processor.

It comes with both Windows XP Home and Professional, and it's not
new to Windows XP; it's been a component of Windows for several
versions.

Word, of course is much better; Microsoft doesn't want to give
you somethimg as good as Word for free; if they did, they
couldn't sell Word.

No, it has nothing to do with XP Professional. The same Wordpad
is available on both XP Home and Professional, and a file can be
opened in either.

Alternatively, you may not be using WordPad, but another program
that your vendor shipped your computer with. For example, maybe
you have WordPerfect, which would explain why the other user
couldn't open it, if you sent him a WordPerfect file and he tried
to open it in Word, and doesn't have the appropriate filter
installed. I personally think that WordPerfecvt is much better
than Word, but each to his own.

Word can be bought either by itself, as part of Microsoft Office,
or most cheaply, as part of Microsoft Works Suite.
