Upgrade Win2000 to XP

I am trying to upgrade from Win2000 to XP Pro but the
install won't delete the Win2000 OS. It just adds a
second OS in a different partition. I am using a Dell
reinstall CD. How can I get XP to completely replace
Win2000 and have only one OS on my computer? Thanks.

You are running the install from INSIDE windows and choosing to upgrade?

Yes. The first time I tried to upgrade I was in Windows
2000. I put the CD in and installed XP. Is there anyway
to erase everything and start over with a Dell Reinstall
CD? Thanks.

Greetings --

If you're using the Dell OEM CD that came with that specific PC,
all you need do is boot from the CD and follow the on-screen prompts
and instructions. OEM CDs cannot perform upgrades, by design.

If you're using a Dell OEM CD that came with a _different_
computer, what you're attempting is better known as software piracy,
and you won't get any help in this news group. An OEM license cannot
legitimately be transferred to any computer other than the one with
which it was purchased, under any circumstances.

Greetings --

You can use the WinXP Pro Upgrade CD to upgrade from Win2K to
WinXP.
