Upgrade to XP, Notepad malfunction

W

William Moore

I recently upgraded from ME to XP. Now, the word-wrap
function in Notepad puts a hard return at the end of
every line of text. If I go back and change text or
insert text, it results in a lot of broken lines of text.
Any Suggestions?

Where were the files from orginally? Sometimes copying files from different
sources will result in there being a slightly different idea of what
constitutes a line break. Personally, I usually then open the document in
Wordpad, make sure it looks right, and save it back out explicitly as plain
text. This can sometimes help clear this up.

Notepad is a very simple application. If you are copying OUT of notepad, I
would recommend turning word wrap off before highlighting and copying the
text, though this shouldn't make a big difference.

Hope this helps.
