Since you have a legal license for Windows XP Professional, but your
computer came with SP2 installed and the media you have is just updated to
SP1.. you have two choices to get Windows XP Professional on that machine
that I can see..

All assuming this Windows XP Professional CD you have is a Retail/Upgrade
version of Windows XP Professional CD - and not an OEM...

1) Slipstream SP2 into that SP1 Windows XP Professional CD and burn a new
one using NLite or AutoStreamer to simplify the slipstreaming process. Then
use that new CD to upgrade the currently installed OS appropriately. You
probably will want to backup your important stuff first. Just to be really
safe!

2) Boot from the Windows XP Professional CD, wipe the partition(s) and
create new one(s) and install away. Upgrade to SP2 and all the 60+ patches
post-SP2 and then install all your applications again. You *will* want to
backup your important stuff first.

#2 is what you will be doing if your Windows XP Professional w/SP1 CD is an
OEM version.

Thank you for you reply!

I don't want to reinstall everything on my computer, that's the last step I
want to do. (The second method)

Could you describe more detail about the first method?

Thanks!
