At the moment I have a mediocre machine that runs the likes of Far Cry on low/medium graphics. I am looking to upgrade but am on a pretty tight budget of around £150.
My system specs are:

Dell Dimensions 4500s
P4 2.0Ghz
ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128mb
256 mb DDR Ram

I need a new motherboard, something PCI-Express, a new graphics card and more RAM imo.

I'd like to play Far Cry on the highest graphics with a decent frame rate and I will need to play The Elder Scrolls IV on it.

Any good suggestions and links to buy from?

I'd get the 6600GT but I also need a new mobo.
My current one is just PCI (or PCI Bus).
I could go for the Radeon 9800 Pro as it's cheaper and might be able to get a new mobo.
btw, the budget is flexible...

if you dont have an AGP slot then a new motherboard is needed, possibly a new CPU and RAM at the the same time, if you get a new PCI-E motherboard then a new graphics card will also be needed. the first thing to do is check for an AGP slot

Im with Chris :D
the 6600 GT would be a better buy than a 9800 PRO i think.... better performance/price ratio...

There is definetely not a AGP slot on my mobo.

I have considered selling my current one and building new but I would want to simply upgrade my current system.

I guess I will need a new motherboard, gfx card, ram and possibly CPU.

Any suggestions?

AMD 64 bit is the way to go there cheaper than intel

your looking at around £385

Asus A8V deluxe

AMD 64 939 pin 3200 (venice core)

Geil value 512 MB RAM (2x256)

and a leadtek 6600GT

or around £400 for

Asus A8N-SLI

AMD 64 939 pin 3200 (venice core)

Geil value RAM 512MB

and a PCI-E leadtek 6600GT

I Agree, you will need a 24pin one or a version 2.0 PSU

You can get the older 20Pin with a converter - I was advised against this though

Hope that helps :)

good point chris, a new PSU will be needed which will be another £50 +

overall they're not bad systems for under £500
