Upgrade report W98SE to XP Home

I have purchased an upgrade pack to upgrade my operating
system from Windows 98 SE to Windows XP Home Edition. As
part of the pre installation process the software tests
the system for issues that may require resolution prior
to full installation.

My pre installation report has indicated several issues
that need addressing and I am actioning them all in due
course however one issue is noted that I cannot identify
or obtain any information about. Under Hardware
Compatibility Issues - Hardware That Might Need
Additional Files is noted " Parallel Scanner Enumerator -
ParEnum ".

Can anyone identify what this is and what it relates to
and therefore the corrective action I need to take?

You have to update the scanner driver which is using a
parallel connection. You might even need to replace your
scanner with a newer XP compatible version if a new driver
is not available for your old one.

In addition to obtaining drivers suitable for use with XP, disconnect the
scanner and uninstall its drivers before doing the XP upgrade. Once XP is
up and running, install the scanner and new drivers per the manufacturer's
directions.

NOTE: If the scanner's software has XP upgrades available as well, check
the manufacturer's directions for how to handle the upgrade process. They
may want you to uninstall these additional programs (usually separate from
the drivers) before upgrading to XP too. Or they may recommend a simple
upgrade of that software (new package installed over old install).
