Upgrade XP Hardware Compatibility Issues

Trying to install upgrade XP, Upgrade Report says under Hardware Compatibility Issues says that "some of the following entries might be software that is registered as hardware" Sound: CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device -- I had installed XP & ended up uninstalling for several reasons for time being -- when it was installed, my sound did not work. == what do I do to solve this??
