Upgrade path for win98se

I will be doing a clean install of Win98se which I believe ships with IE4.
I've heard that upgrading directly to IE6 without going through IE5.x
upgrades can cause problems for Win 98 systems. Can anyone advise me on the
correct upgrade path? Thanks.

Win98 SE ships with IE5.0, not IE4.
I have never had problems with Win98 SE bypassing IE versions.
