Upgrade Home to Pro, Is it possible?

If you a home user I would not do it. If you are a business all I can say is
while I was on leave the person that held things together while I was gone
upgraded a branch office to Pro and nearly every computer that had home on
it ended up having to be formated to get pro on there. Even though I was not
involved I still hear them complaining about that :p

If so what can I expect?

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things can
go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all important
to you, back it up before proceeding.

The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, almost
always goes smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.

Why not? It's the OP's choice, isn't it?

I hope that individual was fired and a competent technician hired; it's
hard to imagine how someone could possibly screw such a simple upgrade.

Why not, well it looks pretty odvious why not. Unless my eyes are deceiving
me I think we both posted in an earlier post titled "xp home vs xp pro".
From the sound of your post Pro is more for buisness use, not home use. To
answer your question,,, why spend another $100 to get some new features that
99.9% of the home users will never need and that will just leave them with
an operating system with more potential security holes. Granted all those
potential holes are turned off/disabled, but with Home they do not exist.

As I said, it's the OP's choice, as it's his money. You offered no
reasons of any sort for your position. And, to date, all of WinXP's
known security holes have been plugged. (This isn't to say the new
vulnerabilities won't be discovered in the future; but they'll likely be
fixed, as well.

Granted all those
potential holes are turned off/disabled, but with Home they do not exist.

Where did you ever get such an idea? That is completely wrong. There
aren't all that many differences between the two versions, and almost
every single vulnerability in WinXP Pro also exists in WinXP Home.
