upgrade from Win98SE to Win XPHome Ed

Hello,
If i perform an upgrade to windows xp to a PC running win98 se and when im
prompted to insert the product key .. do i use the product key that i
extracted from the version im updating ??.

No, you use the Product Key from the WinXP Upgrade CD's packaging.
