Slipstream XP/SP2 from Win98se ?

Trying to slipstream (using Win98se OS) to XP + SP2.

I encountered the ntdll.dll missing export link error {Ntshutdownsystem}
trying to Extract sP2 using [Win...KB...ENU.exe -x] . I circumvented this and
extracted with WinZip.

I then encountered the ntdll error {Ntallocatevirtualmemory} trying to
integrate using [...\i386\update\update -s].

"Insufficient Memory" notices accompanied both errors. I guess it means
virtual memory since I have 512MB and it's the Virtual Allocate function
that's missing.

Obviously Win98 ntdll is missing a function(s?) required by the XP routines.
How can I complete the slipstream integration of SP2 using W98? Can I borrow
the ntdll from WinMe or any other get me through this hangup?

Unless MS has changed the requirement, you have to be running at least the
level of Windows you are trying to slipstream the SP into when using the
/integrate option.

In other words, if I'm trying to make a WinXP_SP2 CD and the CD I have is
WinXP (No SP's), then I need to boot the PC with WinXP (No SP's or SP1),
then I can slipstream SP2 into my WinXP (No SP's) and make it SP2.

Of course if you use something like Autostreamer (you can download a fully
functional copy for free I believe), it may not care what OS you are booted
into, and it will still build the ISO correctly.

I thought if there was a way to add the missing function call to ntdll it
would get me through the process.

According to the autostreamer site they also require Win XP to run but I
will download and try anyway.
Thank you Admiral Sir: From lowly SO3 Ed.
