Upgrade from Win98 to XP Pro results in lost Briefcase files

I just recently updated a Dell laptop from Win98 to WinXP Pro and when
I go to the Briefcase program, all my documents are missing. Is the
data lost or how do I retrieve it?

Just retrieve the files from the backup you did before doing the
upgrade.

You did back up your data before doing a change as substantial as an OS
upgrade, didn't you?
