Upgrade from Full License Disk?

R

Rob

Not sure why anyone would want to do this...'cept me.

I don't trust the Vista upgrade and decided for the full license disk.
Paranoid, yes. I just prefer having a full license. Is it possible to run
an upgrade from the full license disk (Business edtion, FWIW)?

Yes, the full retail CD is capable of performing an in-place upgrade.

Hello Rob,
Thanks for posting. From your post, it seems you have a question about
upgrading and the full product license. Yes, you can choose the upgrade
option with a the full license as long as the version of Windows you are
currently running can, indeed, be upgraded using the Upgrade option to the
edition of Windows Vista you want to install. If you're upgrading from
Windows XP to Windows Vista, check here for more information on upgrade
paths:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/51ff932f-a9b4-4015-a847-09bfac51a18f1033.mspx.

If Upgrade is not supported for your situation, you can choose "Custom"
during Windows installation to perform a clean installation. Of course, a
clean installation does not preserve your programs, files, and settings as
the "Upgrade" option does.

Sincerely,
Byron

Yes, but only if you have your prior OS you want to upgrade from already
installed on the computer you want to upgrade. Pop in the Full retail
Vista cd and boot from it, it should recognize you previous OS and allow
an upgrade. A word of warning, it seems some people have a much more
difficult time with Vista when upgrading. Good luck.
