Upgrade from 98SE to XPPro

I would like to upgrade from 98SE to XPPro. But I also
want to do a clean install and format my HDD. Before I
format my drive, I would like to save all my e-mails,
favorites, address book, personal dictionary from Office
(Word) 2000 and other files. I have an external 40GB drive
I use to back up working files, but I'm not sure how to
back up this other info.
Thanks for all and any help you can provide.

Not hard. Drag and drop the files from the hard disk to the external hard
disk. Then be sure to remove the external hard disk.
Note that a computer old enough to have been running Windows 98 is not
necessarily a good candidate for an upgrade to Windows XP. Your computer
ought to be a P-III or better, with 256 MB of RAM or more, and your hard
disk ought to be about 10 GB in size. If you are short in any area, then
stay with Windows 98 for the duration of this computer's life span, and use
Windows XP on your next computer.
