I downloaded a Cumulative Patch update "which resolves
all known security vulnerablities" affecting MS Inter.
Explor, Outlook, and Express. I have a XP and since doing
the download email shows connection to the server has
failed. I have restarted twice and same result. Any
suggestions out there. Can't retrieve mail.

Was this done from an email? You now have a virus!

You downloaded and installed the virus, most likely Sven but
maybe Gibe.

You need to get a copy of the latest STINGER program from
http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp


It will check for and remove many viruses including these
new ones.

Did it not seem suspicious that Microsoft sent you an email informing you of a patch? Do you actually think they have the resources
or a secret list of everyone on the planet that runs one of their operating systems and then individually email all of them with a
security patch for the specific OS that they are using?
I don't mean to be harsh but common sense would have kept you and many others out of trouble.
