Updating to SP1 troubleshooting

B

Bre

I had to reinstall my OS Windows XP. Now I cannot get the
update for SP1 to install. I've already disabled my anti-
virus software. The online download and installation
didn't work after numerous tries and after hours of
downloading via phone line. I downloaded the networking
SP1 that doesn't require an internet connection. When
installing this SP1 I get this error: "setup cannot copy
file win32k.sys. Ensure location is correct or insert
windows xp service pack 1 source files." I cannot find
any source files for this. The only thing I have from the
download is the .exe file for the installation.
HELP!!!

Look in your setupapi.log and windows update.log (both in the Windows
directory). Scroll to the bottom of those and see what errors it is
logging. Most likely there is a permissions issue related to one of the
keys for SP1.
