Updating MBR in Windows XP Pro

I had a problem with being able to read any directory/file information on my C: drive. I have reinstalled Windows XP. I can see all the folders/files on the second partition and on the second physical drive.

I think that the C: mbr is corrupt, how do I update/repair it?

Bob,

Open the Help and Support form the Start button.
Do a Search for MBR

On the Full Text Search matches have a look at the Repair Overview section
In particular the "Operating System does not start", there is information in
there about using the recovery console to repair the MBR.
