My anti-spy says 'cannot connect to Internet' when I
request Updates. Does not have Update on Summary sheet.

How d'you get an update?
 
Ensure that either Outlook Express or Internet Explorer is not working in
off line mode. Click File and ensure that "Work Offline" is not checked.
