Updates downloading too slowly

I've got Windows XP and just increased my memory to 512mb. The current
updates are taking forever--I'm on Day 3! Plus, my screen saver (moving
polygons) hardly moves. Any suggestions? Thanks.

STop the updates and Shut Down the computer. Leave it off for a minute or
so. Start the computer. Are things better now?
