I just updated the drivers on my Nvidia 6800GT graphic card and since
then, when I watch a movie or whatever on my computer the quality
isn't as good. It looks like a white "vail" is in front of the screen.
You can still see everything, just now as well. It affects the games,
but very little, it's mostly for Windows Media Player, Real Player,
ect...
Thx for any help you can give!!

There is a "Driver Rollback" feature in Windows that should allow you to
go back to your original nVidia drivers.

As a general rule, if you have a specific problem that a driver update
is supposed to fix, download and install the updated drivers. But if
you have no problems you can think of with a device (and maybe
especially video) you should always consider skipping "updated" drivers.
I quit updating video drivers several years ago if the drivers I was
using were performing fine, because half of the time when I'd do it, it
*caused* a problem. Many others have relayed the same experience to me.
FWIW.

Where did you get the updated drivers, from Nvidia, the computer
manufacturer, or <sigh> Windows Update?

Utilize the driver controls - especially for video overlays...
While playing a movie in a window so you can see the difference live.

Depends on where you got the drivers from. And, what EXACT problems you
were having with your old driver.

Did you try to fix something that wasn't broken?

Try using the nvidia control panel to set a proper white point. Then a push of the slider will change it the
way you like it.

Always use the latest drivers of anything. There are teams of developers fixing things that know what
they're doing. They know more than the last version they made and that's why it's in the new version.

This "don't fix it if it isn't broken" philosophy is illogical nonsense and is admitting the software is too fragile
to modify.
