NEED Help Please! =)

Issue:
Sound becomes distorted/pops and choppy, scratchy after
running
an application for a while, sometimes as long as an hour.

Affected Applications:
Games (Warcraft 3, Call of Duty, etc), Win Media player
(watching a long movie).

Temporary Fix:
Close and restart application, sound issue is gone. Until
time lapse occurs again.

System Info:
Not USB speakers.
AMD Athlon 2500+, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
512mb Memory
Nvidia nForce Audio
Win XP 5.1 build 2600

DXDiag info is available as needed.

I have attempted to fix by fully updating all drivers and
using windows update. I feel there might be a memory leak
or an issue with Nvidia's onboard sound card?

Wrong!

This is a hardware issue with some NForce2 motherboards. Hang out in
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13&sid=57d6cd331f1cf3da5df01ab614852c8d
for a while. You will see that many people who experience the problem can
not solve for it. They end up RMAing the M/B. It seems that the later
revision M/B's do much better with the onboard sound!

BTW, it has never caused me any problems on my Nforce2 board.

.

ARGH! so what you are saying is that. I can't fix it.
and its a hardware issue?

its not immediate. it happens over time.... as in
something is occuring while the application is running to
cause the sound distortion to begin. If it was
immediate I would be more likely to think it was hardware
related. But it WORKS fine, for about 40-60 mins before
it starts to crap out. And its like an Additional noise
over the normal sound.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

(I went to site and looked around. most issues were
immediate conflicts, didn't find one relating to my
particular problem)

You may have to go back a couple of months. As I said, it seems to have been
rectified with the latest boards. If yours is not an Asus, go to the forum
for your boards manufacturer!
