Is there an option where you can control the "check for updates" using a
right-mouse button selection without opening the utility itself? Similar to
AVG feature that you can select from AVG's icon in the systray.

Not yet, but others have suggested this, and it's a great suggestion, I
think.

Updates are completed automatically so it this is not
necessary. I don't think opening the software is such a
difficult thing to do!

Autoupdate in the form in the current product is not well suited to dialup
users, for example.

I hope this will change over the course of the beta, but it hasn't so far.
Many antivirus apps which autoupdate also have a right-click update option.
