update stuck??

My icon for the downloading updates seems to be stuck at 12 %.....any
suggestions? I cannot click on the icon .....but I am not sure if its
clickable either. Thanks in advance

Well....I restarted the PC and got back online...the icon then reappears and
has been stuck now at 17% for about 2.5 hrs. IF I surf the net, pages load
slowly and I cannot download anythen......I am stuck on what to do.....
