Update still indicating "could not connect to the internet"

Mikolaj,
Thank you for the 2nd suggestion re. my problems with the
updater failing and indicating "could not connect to the
internet". Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I
checked the norton firewall settings and it is set
to "permit all" for the "GiantAntispywareupdater.exe". Any
other suggestions besides the firewall settings and making
sure IE is not set to run offline? Thanks very much for
your help and any other suggestions you might have!!
Regards,
Cindy

Mikolaj,
Thanks for your reply. I already verified that this was
not an issue, as I saw this fix for others. IE is
working "online". Any other ideas? Thanks again in
advance!

Hi again,

have you checked the Norton Firewall settings if it is not
blocking access
to the internet for MSAS update process (i.e.
GiantAntiSpywareUpdater.exe) ?

I just downloaded the MSAS beta which works fine in
itself but the the Autoupdate keeps giving me the
error "cannot connect to internet". I am using Zone
Alarms firewall and have set it to accept all microsoft
files, which didn't help. I have disabled the firewall,
set cookies to accept everything, enabled popups and just
about anything else I could think of.
Sure could use some help here.
Thanks....

I'm having the same problem. I have no firewall, only a
router and it alows everything in and out....for crying
out loud, I've even set it up as a DMZ and it still gives
me the "cannot connect to the internet". I've checked the
host file and it is clean, I've tried different DNS
servers...nothing works.
Any one know what's going on?
