Update function is not working-MS Antispyware

I recently downloaded and installed MS Antispyware on two
separate machines with XP and SP2, running Norton AV and
Firewall. I am not able to get either of them to run the
update for the antispyware program, either manually or
automatically. I get the message, "Warning, Could not
connect to the internet"..."could not detect internet
connection". I have cable highspeed, which is always on,
and I have verified that it is working fine. What is
causing the problem and how do I fix it??? I see others
have had the same problems. Thanks much in advance!!

Please take a look at Internet Explorer settings (in the File menu of IE) if
it is set to work off-line. If so, uncheck this option.

Thanks for your reply. I already verified that this was
not an issue, as I saw this fix for others. IE is
working "online". Any other ideas? Thanks again in
advance!
