Update problems

My copy of Windows Defender does not update!
It's still signature version 1.0.0.0... :-(
If I do a manual update it says everything is OK but the program still does
not update the front page.
(I run Win XP Pro SP 2)

Please help!
 
Same here, no update for a couple days. It shows error 0x80240016. I was
getting the 0x8050800c "can't run ascan" error now this. I never had a
problem with Windows Antispyware beta 1. But this Defender is crap. How can
you muck it up this bad.
 
It's Microsoft we're talking about; they can do it easily. :)
Seriously though, try checking in the thread titled POSSIBLE ANSWER TO
UPDATE PROBLEM, about 11 posts or so below yours. You may find a solution
there.
