Unable to Update

I get the following error : 0x8024002x when trying to update Windows Defender
Beta 2.

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1051.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1185.0
Signature Version: 1.0.0.0

I read windows defender usses windows update to update its signature files?
If so this will never work in my organisation. We don't use windows update or
even WSUS for rolling out updates to users. All patches have to be
extensively tested before rolling out via a forces update process.

The Beta 1 software was great since that woudl jsut update no problem over
the Internet.

Any way of downloading the latest updates manually and installing them that
way? If not i'm afraid to say beta 2 is a step backwards compared to beta 1.

Most of our computers do not have direct internet access for security
reasons. We used batch files to port the latest beta 1 definitions to all
computers. On a slow land line, we cannot use automatic updates. The
question is: How do we update Defender on our non-internet computers?

Install "Windows Installer 3.1" and KB898461

You don't need the automatic updater... it just uses some of the same
installer engine which needs to be current from what i can tell.

We do not yet support publishing standalone signature patches. Our current
signature deliver mechanism is only thru WU/MU. Sorry.
