does this break any extensions (if you have tried it)?

Doesn't seem to. It goes through the usual check for compatibilty updates
for extensions but didn't complain about any.

It's not a major release. Purely minor bugfixes and a fix for a
non-critical security flaw.

Regards
Gordon

The newest Firefox version is 1.5.0.4. I just downloaded and installed
it. It works fine and with the help of Mr.Tech's Local Install all of
my 52 extensions work perfectly.

Good Luck!

Hello,
does this break any extensions (if you have tried it)?

this depends on, how specific the ext author has given
compatibility information. A not compatible extension
does mean, it does not fit with a setting done by the
author. It does not have to do with real technical
problems caused by new browser version. So also a patch
to the extension file is easy (rename to .zip, unpack,
edit install.rdf <em:maxVersion> and so on)...

Minor updates like this should not change the API so
usually no extension should really break.

So much for the theory ;-)

Thorsten

John; your best way of action is to list all your extensions in a new
post and let people who upgrade before you tell you about their results.

But you might get someone who says you should not wait for others to do
the job for you... :-)

The newest Firefox version is 1.5.0.4.

And where did you find this one, even before 1.5.0.3 is released... :-)

Hello,
And where did you find this one, even before 1.5.0.3 is
released... :-)

there usually is no fixed time of "release", the files will
go public/visible and then all servers follow as soon as possible.
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/
does not lead you always to the same server, a load balancing
system will choose a server for you.

As I found 1.5.0.3 with no problem, I'll take it as released.
I cannot find 1.5.0.4, but that doesn't mean, it's not released.

Thorsten

AI Roboform's Toolbar is always broken by all updates, including minor
ones like this.

Hello,
AI Roboform's Toolbar is always broken by all updates,
including minor ones like this.

really broken or is Firefox claiming incompatibility. Maybe
just a sign for (too?) restrictive "maxversion" settings from
the developers?

I don't use this, is there a community or are updates available
soon? I know of lesser maintained extensions, where in the
community patched versions were available and tested. But by
now most of these are replaced with alive ones ;-)

It's a bit the problem where to set priority, all this little
helpers we don't wanna live without or the latest browser with
most security issues fixed. I would prefer security.

For me all my extensions work with the latest minor release.

Thorsten

The problem with RoboForm is that, perhaps in an overabundance of caution,
the installer is told what versions of Mozilla and Firefox to support and
will barf at unknown version numbers regardless of incompatibility.

With well over 500 passcards in my RoboForm, life would grind to a petty
pace if I ever lost its use. I also clutch tightly to my Pass2Go iStick
whenever venturing out from the safety of my cave. But I would never dare
to suggest hereabouts that the program is of any use when it's not free.

Yes, this is correct. I have asked for an explanation of their policy,
but never received a reply.

Roboform is a freeware/shareware program that is regularly updated and
maintained by it's creator Siber Systems. A new update to their Firefox
extension will usually appear two or three days after a Firefox update.

Roboform is my preferred program for filling in passwords and web forms.
I hate losing it for even a couple of days.
For me all my extensions work with the latest minor release.
The Roboform Toolbar is the only one I have a problem with.
