One major restriction in Firefox - the inability to group the tabs down
the left edge of the window. Nearly all browsers suffer this, except for
Opera and Galeon. It's a dealbreaker for me until Firefox supports it.

Is this already filed as a feature request in Bugzilla?

I believe that the tabzilla or multizilla extension adds this, not
absolutly certain, but I think it does.

You can do this with one of the tab extensions - can't remember which
one off the top of my head.

There's no 'tabzilla' extension.
The 'multizilla' extension only works on standard Mozilla, not Firefox.

The tabbrowser preferences extension lets you set the tab bar placement
at the bottom of the window but not right or left. Tools | Options |
Tabbed Browsing | Features. Select the option to "Place the tabbar on
the bottom of the window..."

Mine gives me the option of top, bottom, left, or right side.

Mike Andrade laid this down on his screen :

There are two completely different extensions - one is called
Tabbrowser Preferences and the other Tabbrowser Extensions and the
latter one has all 4 tab bar locations.

Where exactly is "Tabbrowser Extensions" on the Mozilla site? I can only
find "Tabbrowser Preferences". Can you please point me in the right
direction.

Thanks for the clarification. I suspected that was the case.

Try any of the following:
* Drag the file into the Extensions window.
* File/Open... and select the XPI.
* Drag the file into an open window or tab.
Tab Mix

For a long time, we talk about how to rebuild the features of the
powerful but bulky TBE. According to these discussions, we can
install several extensions on Firefox and add the CSS rules in the
userChrome.css file. But, as we know, some extensions would conflict
with another, some others are already broken or out of maintain. Is
it possible to combine the most practical tab-related extensions
together, then we could just install ONE extension for a better
tabbed browsing? That's what I try to do in Tab Mix.

TBE is not on the Mozilla site. It's at
<http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/tabextensions/index.html.en>. I don't
use it because of numerous annoying bugs in the past, but I don't know
about its current state.

There's a newish extension, Tab Mix, that aims eventually to provide
what TBE does without the problems, but Tab Mix is still in the
unstable/testing phase.

FWIW, the mozilla.org update site is frozen pending some work they need
to make: <https://addons.update.mozilla.org/about/update.php>.
