That's why Laurie linked directly to the file's directory.

If you want to do it via the updater, you will have to wait a while.
First, the files has to propagate to all their download mirrors. After
that, they may stagger the updates in order to manage bandwidth. You
should expect to get it sometime over the next week or so.

According to <http://www.mozilla.com/>:

The link listed at & for to download (the) current Windows-version shows the
following -->

http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.5.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US

By way of the above, it would seem, then, to indicate that you, Frank, are
correct.

This is not the first time an update to Firefox has been announced,
prematurely, by those who mistake a/an Alpha/Beta/RC, found in a Mozilla
ftp-site, with the corresponding link not found on a/the Mozilla/Firefox pages.

Does anyone remember when v1.5.0.1 was "released"? It then came to light that
this so-called release was _not_ a "full", but rather a beta, of some sort.
Took MajorGeeks.com (<http://www.majorgeeks.com>) several days to
retract/remove their blurb & link to "1.5.0.1". I hope they do better, this
time.

Yes, but that is not what's happening in this case. Those sites were
linking to nightly builds, not releases. The link given in this thread
was to the release directory for 1.5.0.2. Stay tuned to
<http://www.mozilla.com/> if you want to wait for the official
announcement.

Better "safe" than sorry (imho; ymmv).

Or to put this another way, if 1.5.0.2 is available on various & sundry sites,
why is it not advertised on & at 'Mozilla'?

Something is going on....

Brilliant, it's only managed to disable three (of my lesser used)
extensions. When will there be a version update that will not break any
extensions?

This in my opinion is Firefox's one big annoyance. I appreciate the
frequent updates to make it more stable and secure, however it is
irritating that my Roboform Toolbar ends up broken for a few days every
single time.

Internet Explorer patches have never caused this type of problem. Sadly
this is the one area where Microsoft's browser is superior to Mozilla's.

"Breaking extensions" has NOTHING to do with Firefox. It's almost always
caused by the extension writer who specifies the current version of FF as
"last known good version." Savvy extension writers have learned to get
around that by specifying "Firefox 1.5+" which causes the extension to keep
working in subsequent upgrades. Unfortunately, not all of them have learned
this.

The MR Tech Local Install extension will allow you to get around this, and
also makes extension installation a breeze.
