Update failed to Install

I have been trying to get this to download for the last 4 days and it keeps
coming up as


Definition Update 1.13.1276.3 for BETA Windows Defender (KB892519) Failed to
install

I am having the same problem... anyone get an answer to this ?
I installed 'windows defender' 2 days ago and it worked and updated fine, i
uninstalled it and downloaded it again today....now it is not!!

In your case, because of the unintall/reinstall cycle, there's a routine you
need to go through:
Try these steps, from Steve Dodson:

Open Windows Explorer

Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\ folder

Right-click on AS_Sigs.MSI and choose Uninstall from the context menu

Or

Open the command prompt

Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\ folder

Execute the following command: msiexec /x AS_Sigs.msi

Check for updates

Thanks for the help, but it did not work...
Here is the story from day 1:
I found out I had spyware on my pc on saturday so I installed Windows
Defender abd it was updating and working properly...
Then,... it did not get rid of my spyware and another progam caused more
problems for my computer that I had to format and start over again.
On Tuesday (today) when I installed everything back onto my computer... even
the first time (installation) update was not working... and saying that it
has not been updated in 27 days, and that it found now updates...
So, i tried to uninstall and install again... Now, it still not working.

Make sure that you visit Windows Update and install all critical
updates--including the Windows Installer 3.1--that is apparently sometimes a
piece of the puzzle.
