Hi
I have just a dial up line running Vista home basic as I am a light user.
After a months holiday I find I am in receipt of update downloads waiting
for over 100 Mb!!
I can't afford to stay on the line that long, same as these free anti-virus
programmesetc with 140mb downloads.
Living in the countryside I cannot get Broadband yet.Don't think there is a
solution but thought I'd ask.Cheers if you can

The solution is to find a friend with broadband and have them download the
updates for you and burn to CD-R. If one of those updates is Service Pack
1, you can have the friend download it for you or you can order it from
Microsoft. If none of your friends have broadband, then check with your
friendly local computer repair shop. I don't recommend using a
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.

How to download updates and drivers from the Windows Update Catalog or from
the Microsoft Update Catalog:

I'm sorry, but I don't know what else you expected to hear. There is no
"solution" to the fact that many updates are available and you have a
limited Internet connection.
