Update Display Driver means I need a new activation key?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1405, and I tried to update my display driver (it
said that it would search for and install it automatically), but it didn't
work and something happened, and my monitor basically shut off and I had to
restart my computer. When I tried to turn it back on and log in, it said that
the activation key that I entered was incorrect. What can I do to fix this?
