DANG! I just updated yesterday. Was having a problem with Fast Forward
and Fast Rewind. Posted to their forum (General Discussions), was
answered by one of the developers that it "Should be fixed in build
812". Cool.

Offhand, do you know what type (version) of WMV files it'll handle? I
have a file that looks like it needs Windows Media Video 9 and I don't
trust any of M$'s products.

No need for M$ products. Just get the WMP9 codecs and you can play
WMV files. I do. And I use WMP6, the classic version. I play MOV,
Real, WMA and WMV files on it besides AVI, MPG, etc. If you have the
right codecs, WMP6 can play anything, I've found. At least, that's
been my experience all along, up to this point.

Get K-Lite MEGA pack (over the FULL or other packs, if you want to
play most anything). I'm sure it probably doesn't have everything,
but it has everything I've ever needed.

You can get it here:
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm

It also includes G-SPOT, so that's handy.

Good luck!

Cool. Thanks. I assume I should remove all the other codecs first?

Also note the following from the page:

"DivX Anti-Freeze 0.4 prevents freezing of some players when playing a
damaged DivX movie. This filter is not needed with the current version
of DivX, only with old versions and causes problems with some
programs. It is not recommended to install this."

Thanks again. Do you have any idea how well any of these formats play
in Linux? With articles like this I'm getting more determined to dump
M$ and switch:
