Update 819696: SP1 or SP2?

A week or two ago I installed and uninstalled SP2. So I was surprised
to find in the Add/Remove list an entry that said something like
Hotfix 819696 XP (SP2)
Note the 'SP2'.

So I removed it just now.

Then I went to WU, which told me that one of the critical updates I
should install is 'Security Update for Windows XP (819696)'
Note the absence of any SP1 or SP2.

Is this for SP1 or SP2 or both? Why does Add/Remove show 'SP2'? Should
I download it (again) onto my SP1 system?

Terry;
That does not mean it is part of SP-2.
It means it will be integrated into SP-2.
It was likely installed long before SP-2 was installed.
Hopefully you have many more items with "SP2" or you may have serious
security issues since you do not have SP-2 installed.

Some hotfixes were developed before/as SP2 was being compiled,if its
for xp install it,81 series fixes are fairly old,12 months at least.

The SP2 on that entry meant it is a fix that is a *candidate* for SP2
(and was subsequently included in SP2). It had been there for
installation on earlier XP some time back. You had installed it
earlier, without noticing, and the uninstall of SP2 put things back to
the state before you did the SP2 install. If you then uninstalled it, it
goes on the list of individual fixes available for your system
