can a linked spreadsheet be updatable?

That caught me by surprise at a bad time. I was teaching a college course on
Access and was demonstrating to the students how you could update a
spreadsheet from Access. Boy did I look foolish!

i can do it ith VBA via interop, but too much trouble.
