XP Pro with all updates.
When I boot up I get a logon screen that I do not want.
Single User, I am the Administrator and no Password is set.
Guest is Off and the only other account is for .NET (from somewhere)
How do I "erase" this logon prompt?
Do you mean you are running with the built on Administrator account? If so
that's not good practice. The Administrator account should be assigned a
strong password and set aside to be used if something corrupts the working
account. Without another account if something messes up the Administrator
account you won't be able to login.
Create at least one other admin level account. Login to it at least once.
Then copy the data and settings from the Administrator account to the new
account. If it works fine after that, then set a strong password on the
Administrator account and set it aside.

To auto login to a particular account.
1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.
3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.
You can accomplish the same thing by:
Download and install TweakUI for xp and use its auto logon feature.

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:
