unwanted item in "my computer"

Andy

Hello and thanks for reading.

In "my computer" these is an icon for NOMAD Zen 2/3, a mp3 player that my
friend a long time ago used to use with my computer.

I have deleted the registry value in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

but the item is still there.

Any suggestions?

MANY Thanks

Have a look also at (may not be a key there at all, but certainly worth
looking)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

And if so, do as you did previously in exporting / deleting the key, with a
value of "Nomad" or "Zen" or something similar in the right pane.

Then log out and in of your account and retry "My Computer"

Jon,

The only file there is (Default) - value not set. I don't see NOMAD/Zen
here.

thanks,

If you have the TweakUI powertool installed

(freely downloadable from here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
)

you can choose the "Repair Icons" option on the Repair node. This will
rebuild all explorer icons.

Also within the same program you can click on the "My Computer" node to
determine which items you want displayed in "My Computer", so you may be
able to eliminate it that way.

Also have a look at (without the wordwrap)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
You should have an entry there named
{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee} for "shared folders"
See if you have any extra entries there other than that one.
