Unwanted Folder displayed on screen after start up

When I start up my PC, the contents of one folder appears on top of the
desktop - which I then have to close before I can see any icons.

Please can you advise how to stop this?

Which particular folder appears at Startup? Is it a System folder?

Hi.

No. Not a System Folder, but one that I created simply called STEPHEN, the
location being C://Documents and Settings/STEPHEN.

Hi

Have a look in msconfig>Startup to see if the folder is referenced there.
If it is, uncheck it and reboot your system.
