Unsuccessful update

At a quick glance, couldn't see that this has been asked recently ...

My computer is reporting as follows:

Updates were unable to be sucessfully installed
Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework, Version 2.0

How do I either get the update installed (I tried re-booting, to refresh
the system, before trying again, but that didn't work) or at least stop
the reminder icon from constantly sitting in the taskbar, taunting me.

On the WU Website, select your history of updates - now click on failed
update (red mark) and see if there is an error code.
If there is an error code, write it down and post on the Windows Update
Newsgroup or in the alternative, do a search for the error code on the
Windows Update newsgroup:
