Unsuccessful Service Pack 2 Download

I had an unsuccessful sp2 download, with an error message of "Access is
denied".

Microsoft advised me to do the following: Start, Run, type "regedit", OK.
Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and choose permission. Click Advanced button
and choose Owner tab. Highlight the current user and mark the check box
before "replace owner on subcontainers and objects." Click OK and wait for
windows to trasfer the ownership of all the objects on the partition.

Do the same for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

Neither was successful I got the message: "Registry editor could not set
owner on the key currently selected or some of its subkey."

Now what?
