For some reason my internet connection has become unstable. The modem shows I'm connected, my IP say's I'm connected and it's something in my hard drive that's causing the problem, but I don't know what. I lose connection when I'm on messenger, my email advisers keep popping up every few mins ( With the same message) and sometimes pages cannot be displayed. Can someone help.

I would scan for any spyware in the computer. These search result may help.

Thanks for the advise but I seem to have inadvertently found the problem. I
recently installed AOL Active Virus Shield and when I turned it on this it
went through it's usual routine of connecting and disconnecting until Zone
Alarm asked for permission for the Virus Shield to act as a server, after I
chose deny, so far so good. It seems to be back to normal. I have run a
virus scan and it found a couple of problems, but I think this was the cause
of my problems. I hope this helps anyone else who might be having a problem
with AOL.
