unsecure.

I have two laptops, one with XP/3 and the other with Vista/1. I can
use the internet, etc. with the XP but not with the Vista.

I have a home wireless network. Apparently the home network is
unsecured and the XP works OK on it. Windows Network Diagnostics gives
the following.

"This computer (the Vista) is set to connect to 'Name' with security
enabled; however this is an unsecured network."

How can I either switch off the enabled security in the Vista or
convert the whole network to a secure one and then convert the XP to
be able to access the secure network?

If this post has gone to the wrong place perhaps someone can tell me a
better one.

Many thanks,

Peter.

Unsecured Networks are madness.
You neighbours can steal your Bandwidth.and that can become VERy expensive.

Log into your Router and set your Network up properly, with a Security Key
for wireless connection.

Sure it does. So do all the other systems in the area.

That should be changed promptly.

That would be a fairly bad plan.

By adding security on the router, by way of WEP, PSK, etc. Connect by wire
to the router, set up the security, save the key to a text file, copy the
text file to both systems so you don't have to type 26 random characters.

Use the maximum level security that all the wireless cards support.
