Hi,

I have a pc which keeps coming up with the unsafe removal of device error
similar to the one you get when you remove a usb device, however i am
getting it for both the cd rom drives. I suspect it may be due to the InCD
software i have installed but i cannot logically create and remove the
problem by installing/uninstalling this software. Has anyone experienced
this before?

Phil

Yes usually it is an indication of a loose IDE cable or one that is on it's
last legs.

That's what I thought at first. The strange thing is this is a brand new
pc and i have cloned the drive to an identical pc and that one does it as
well!!! The IDE cables have been reseated and I have also altered the
jumpers to cable select to see if that made a difference; it didn't.

does it do it with only one CD on the ide port ?
Have you tried trouble shooting with CD as slave on IDE1 and
or different combinations ?
MB prob? poor connector on MB? poor connection on one of the
CD drives ?

Geoff

yes still does it with one drive.
but only on ide 2.
two motherboards dead? don't think so.
poor conn on 2 mobo's? no.
poor conn on 4 cd drives? no.

reloaded one pc, after this it didn't do it.
This is definitely a software problem although
i agree it definitley looks hardware!

ps why do my original posts keep disapearing?

Phil,

Sounds like a software driver problem. Reload software until the problem
reappears then check for an update.

or perhaps one of the drives does not like being a slave (in
conjunction with the software)

Some "just have to be " the master
