Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard

We recently moved my computer (An eMachine with Windows XP if it i
important) so in the process everything was unplugged and packed fo
transportation. Upon ‘reassembly’ of everything and starting th
computer, I find that once I reach the Windows Login screen with al
user accounts, my mouse and keyboard no longer function. I hav
unplugged and reinserted each, used an air can on the ports, restarte
multiple times and nothing is working. Both light up as if active, ye
are unresponsive to either moving/clicking the mouse or pressin
buttons on the keyboard. The mouse seems to work as the machine i
starting up, but once that login screen comes up with the accounts i
becomes unresponsive.
Also, I can cut the power (obviously can't click shut down with n
mouse or Ctrl+Alt+Del with without a keyboard) and restart in safe mod
and everything works perfectly.
Does anyone know why this is? What can I do to fix it? Please help m
x.

You're using a forum to access the newsgroups, the forum is leeching posts
and you're not getting the full benefit. For instance a hardware group would
likely have been better for you.

Access MS Newsgroups:

Anyhow, rip the side off your PC and starting with the RAM start pulling
stuff out one at a time and reseating it firmly. One at a time...

Works fine in Safe Mode? Are they PS2 or USB? Have you tried reversing
their positions?
