Unreadable Dynamic Volume

Sys: P4 2.8GB 2GB Ram
C"Drive about 50% full

I have 2 phys HD on the same chain, both are independant
drives. One is the Master Drive the other the slave. these
are the F + G drives.

Both are about 85% full. While working on one drive adding
files, a disc I/O error occured or a couldn't write to this
disc error.....

I clicked ok on the error message, ended the program doing
the writing, upon rebooting the system, BOTH of the drives
now no longer appear in my computer & under manage disc
storage they both show up as unreadable.

While most of the data is backed up, not all of it is &
that is a real concern.

How do I get the drives to be readable again without losing
all my data? Also I am perplexed why both drives would
become corrupted when only one drive was being accessed?

How do I fix this mess?

Hello,

It could be that the LDM database has gotten corrupted. Unfortunately,
repairing an issue like this is too involved for a newsgroup posting. My
suggestion is that you contact Microsoft and open a support incident.

Thank You for that input. MS has nothing to offer. You
have told me more than they have.

I don't have the time to wait on hold or wait for days for
their reply. I actually emailed them some time ago. I
came here cause they have yet to respond.

Any other suggestions? is there recovery software that I
can get that will fix these problems?

Try:

Get the DiskPatch demo ...

In DiskPatch: Repair MBR > FixMBR tables > If DiskPatch mentions the dis may
be Dynamic because it has found the LDM, do *not* enter 'ok', DiskPatch will
now actually scan the disk. If partitions/volume are found select SKIP.

If DiskPatch finds the partitions, it is likely it can restore the partition
as BASIC, completely ignoring the LDM. many people have used DiskPatch this
way to 'work around' a corrupt LDM.

On the other hand, based upon your description I am not convinced this is
related to the LDM, it could also very well be the boot sectors. Don't know
why/how, but I have seen and heard of situations like this one, and for some
reason, mosty it is the volume/partition boot sector that got hosed.

Good luck!
