'unread messages' stuck on login screen!

I recently changed from dial up to BB. On my login
screen, it says I have 10 'unread' e-mail messages from
my dial up server. (the account of which is now closed,
and the mail address an invalid one). I have gone through
all my inbox messages for hotmail, BB server, and yahoo,
as well as the trash folder etc etc. There are
no 'unread' messages anywhere to be found!! I am using
Outlook Express to access my BB mail. I previously used
Netscape 6.2 which I have since uninstalled. Can't see
the mail registering from there! Can someone please give
me some advice on how to get rid of this, what seems like
a permanent fixture, from my login
screen!??
