.. unread mail messages..

On the front screen alongside my name Owner I evidently have '3 unread mail
messages' - I have been into the email account mentioned and there are no
messages there read or unread.. how do I get rid of this message on the XP
front screen.please....?

Here are a couple of ways to stop that message:

1. Download a 'fix' from - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_mailnotify.htm

2. Download TweakUi from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp - when installed go to: Programs>TweakUI for Windows XP - then Logon>Unread Mail. You will have to uninstall any previous of TweakUI before installing this version.
