Unread Mail in Favorite Folders - Outlook 2003

Users states there is unread mail in this folder from Thursday and Friday
when she was in the office. Is this a problem with Exchange server not
synching properly? Shouldn't that mail always be delivered to Inbox? not
Unread Mail folder? Is there a default time after which mail is moved from
Inbox to Unread Mail? She also says that the mail items do not show up in
her Inbox. Thanks. (We use Windows XP desktop and Windows 2003 and Exchange
2003 servers.)

The Unread Mail folder is a Search Folder. This folder isn't an actual
folder but gets the items based on a query. All the items are still in their
respective folder. View-> Arrange By-> Folder will tell in which.

So the original items should still remain in the Inbox (or wherever they
originally were); these folders in the Search Folders are essentially
shortcuts to what was included in a search or what was flagged or marked?

Indeed. The folders a continuesly updated based on a Search Query without
messing with any logical folder structure. If you don't see the item in the
folder it is indicating it might be that there is a filter set on the view
of that folder. In that case you can reset the view via View-> Arrange By->
Current View...-> Reset Current View
