Hi ... I have a 120 GB hard drive which has windows xp
pro install and i am curious about something when
reformating the hard drive it show this unpartitioned
space of 8MB on my hard drive ... I did a NTFS format and
curious as to why i can't use all my hard drive because
of this unpartitioned space ... Why do i have this there
in the first place ??? Also can it be removed ??? Thanks

I'm trying to understand your rationale. You have $120,000.00
in the bank, and you worry about $8.00 that you cannot touch?

If it is a Dell computer, that partition contains the Dell hardware
utilities. An option should appear on the F8 menu.

The same utilities are on the Dell resources CD, which should be
bootable. Check and make sure the CD works and then you can delete that
partition and expand the XP partition (with a third party tool).

Stay away from dynamic disks. You don't have enough tools to manage
them. Stick with regular partitions and get yourself Partition Magic or
Acronis or BootItNG.

Hi Gang:

I just reinstalled XP Home edition on my Dell 2350 and It shows me only 8 MB of free space on a 30 GB hard drive. Do I have to used DISK Manager to extend it oe something? What causes this? Is this the same thing that you guys are talking about.
